Medical Assistant Program

Our Medical Assistant Program is designed to prepare individuals for the role of a medical assistant. Medical assistants are vital members of the healthcare team, performing a mix of administrative and clinical duties in healthcare settings such as hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics, and outpatient care centers.

Key Areas of Training:

​

  1. Clinical Skills:

    • Patient Care: Taking vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature), assisting with examinations, preparing patients for procedures.

    • Phlebotomy: Drawing blood for lab tests.

    • Injections and Immunizations: Administering medications, including vaccines.

    • Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG): Performing basic ECGs to monitor heart activity.

    • Assisting with Minor Surgeries: Helping with wound care or minor surgical procedures.

    • Sterilization: Understanding infection control and how to properly sterilize medical instruments.

  2. Administrative Skills:

    • Medical Billing and Coding: Understanding medical insurance, billing, and coding for reimbursement.

    • Medical Records: Managing patient information, including entering data into electronic health records (EHR).

    • Scheduling: Organizing patient appointments, coordinating procedures, and ensuring efficient office flow.

    • Patient Interaction: Communicating with patients, explaining procedures, handling phone calls, and confirming insurance details.

  3. Medical Terminology:

    • Learning the specialized vocabulary used in medicine, including terms for anatomy, procedures, diagnoses, and medical conditions.

  4. Legal and Ethical Aspects:

    • Understanding HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations, confidentiality requirements, and ethical behavior in healthcare.

  5. Pharmacology:

    • Basic understanding of medications, their purposes, dosages, and administration.

Certification:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Certification requires passing an exam that tests knowledge in both clinical and administrative areas.

Program Length:

  • 20 Week Program

  • 80 Hours of clinical

Requirements for Admission to a Program:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Successful Background Check

​​

$2,500

$200.25 due at time of registration
